The wettest day in Sydney
The east of Australia breathed more freely. In the states of Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, thunderstorms began, accompanied by heavy rains. They have already weakened forest fires. Farmers, who have been suffering from drought for three years, are also happy.
For Sydney, this Friday was the wettest day in a very long time.
A Sydney resident:
“Undoubtedly, this is the wettest day in many, many months. Over the past four months we have had rains for only four days, and then it is short, so today is a very good day. “We need some rain and water to deal with the fires, especially considering how dry it was the last couple of days.”
Fires in Australia have been burning since September. They killed 29 people and millions of animals. Burned over 2.5 thousand homes. Scorched territory with a third of Germany. Firefighters say that the rains will not be able to extinguish the fires entirely, but they will significantly help in containing them.
