Tourism in today's Victoria
The bush fires in Australia also affect thousands of tourists. The country is a destination especially for individual travelers, which is why there are no large tour operators that have hundreds of package holidaymakers on their lists. Smaller travel agencies that specialize in Australia are currently working around the clock to bring their customers from the affected areas to safety.
Thousands save themselves from the bush fires in Australia. An international tennis tournament has been moved to Canberra. The worst air quality in the world was recently measured there.
One tries to fly the vacationers in those parts of the country or to redirect, in which it is not yet or no longer burning, according to the Australia and New Zealand expert Travel Essence. However, excursion areas such as the Grampians National Park west of Melbourne, where it recently rained, are already quite crowded - the Australians are also currently on vacation and are looking for safe areas in which it is easier to breathe. And in this national park, some hiking trails and camps are also closed due to bush fires.
Victoria is severely affected by the fires, particularly in the regions on the east coast. It doesn't look much better in the tropical north. Even the rainforest is threatened by the flames. In order to save the fire brigades from further sources of fire, open fires are prohibited in forests and parks in Queensland, for example, until at least January 6, no matter how low the risk of fire seems. Fortunately, the Daintree National Park, one of the oldest rainforests on earth, has so far been spared. There are trees here, thick and mighty like the pillars of Gothic cathedrals.
