Five-year ASIC ban imposed on Perth fina Perth
Peter Jianchao Xu, who is an authorized representative of several firms, including Westpac Banking Corporation, Commonwealth Financial Planning, and Neo Financial Solutions, has been banned by AISC. After the ban, he cannot provide any financial services for five years. According to the reports, the ban has been imposed for not complying with financial services laws. He did not comply with the requirements of providing appropriate advice to his clients. In the review done by ASIC, they found that he had advised his clients on several occasions to take a new insurance policy instead of encouraging them to check if there are possibilities with the current systems is they modify them. He was also unable to consider clients’ circumstances while providing them personal insurance advice. His actions left many clients at risk of being under-insured. ASIC said in their statement that when a financial adviser offers personal information to the clients, it is essential to take the client’s circumstances into account and suggest changes in current financial products or suggest new products accordingly. He can appeal the Administrative Appeals Tribunal for a review of ASIC’s decision in the prescribed time. Until then, he will not be allowed to provide any services to any of the existing or new clients.
