Celebrations at Perth Cultural Centre af Perth
The symbolic venue Picabar situated in Northbridge celebrated after a new lease to the location confirmed that the venue would remain at Perth Cultural Centre. The decision came courtesy to an exodus of public support for the venue. The Picabar distributed free beer to celebrate the incident.
David Templeman, the Culture and Art Minister of the state Brian and Conor Buckley, the bar owners declared that a new five-year lease had been negotiated between the two groups. The lease also has a clause to extend the lease for an additional five years. This decision comes after 12 months of uncertainty as Perth Theatre Trust expressed interest in the property. The huge backlash due to public support increased the pressure on PTT and stakeholders. This gave the bar owners a chance to renegotiate the lease agreement.
