What are the consequences of bushfires?
Scientists from the University of Melbourne, analyzing the data of the Swedish satellite "One", showed that the column of smoke rose to an altitude of 17-19 kilometers a week after the start of the fires. Combustion products circulated around the planet at the latitude of the tropics for six weeks.
Scientists explain this phenomenon by the fact that forest fires are a hotbed of open fire, from where, like from a fire, a huge mass of smoke rises. There it cools and, rising even higher, forms a cloud - it is called pyrocumulative. It continues to gain height due to internal convective flows and turns into a thundercloud. Rains may not go at the same time, and lightnings cause new fires.
It is possible that soot from forest fires, being in the stratosphere for eight or more months, globally affects the climate. On the one hand, it can cool the air by scattering solar radiation, as is the result of volcanic eruptions. On the other hand, a huge amount of CO2 - the strongest greenhouse gas - enters the atmosphere. Of course, it enters the natural carbon cycle on the planet and will again be absorbed by the biomass from which it is taken. However, there are signs that this natural balance may be shaken, and too many fires, droughts, and the lack of rain all over the world will make forests unable to grow as fast as before. And an excess of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere enhances its heating.

How the creator of Angry Birds is planning to raise a generation of geniuses
The Finnish entrepreneur Peter Westerbaka launched an educational program for children, which literally prepares them for space flight. How NASA Techniques Can Help Your Child Get Real Life Success.
In 2015, Peter Westerbaka, entrepreneur, founder of the Slush startup conference and one of the creators of the Angry Birds game, launched the Fun Academy Future Astronauts educational initiative. Children between the ages of two and six learn in the format of “fun learning” - an approach based on Finnish teaching experience and a variety of developmental practices from around the world. The Academy collaborates with Space Nation (a Finnish-American company planning to launch a reality show, the winner of which will go to space) and from early childhood instills in children key life skills: find innovative solutions, work in a team, think critically, and be conscious about their actions and make meaningful use of new technologies.
It would seem that the course program is more like one of the trainings of personal growth, extremely popular among businessmen, politicians and other adults. However, the creators of Fun Academy are confident that even at such a young age, children are capable of more serious decisions and actions than those that we expect from them.
Educate future presidents
The project began with a collaboration between the entrepreneur’s team and NASA’s US space agency, while Peter Westerbach was still working on the Angry Birds app. In fact, the academy's program resembles the actual training of future astronauts, but in a version adapted to children's interests.“People have always admired space exploration,” the Finnish entrepreneur shares with RBC Style. - Therefore, there is nothing surprising in the fact that many children again want to become astronauts. But if they come to us, this does not mean that immediately after training, each student will go to the moon.
We have a completely different task - to help children gain vital skills. After all, to be an astronaut in the first place means to be creative in solving problems and creatively manage your destiny. Anyone can become one. And if you convince the children that there is nothing impossible in the world, then the future astronaut or even the president can be grown from everyone. ”
In other words, the academy prepares children for the most unknown and important - for their future. As part of the program, children develop their thinking with the help of awareness exercises, train the body and expand their knowledge in various fields.
They often speak with them about science, technology, art and mathematics. And children do small studies and perform experiments that resemble those that are installed on international space stations, test spacesuits, try food in tubes and even communicate with real astronauts.
But this is not all: every week children are given a pre-modeled problem that they must solve by the team, using their communication skills and the ability to negotiate with each other. Trainings, as a rule, are aimed at practical training.
“The pedagogical structure of the program is built in accordance with the fun learning approach that we developed at Fun Academy. It is based on Finnish studies in the field of education - they have been conducted over the past 50 years and are considered one of the most progressive in the world, ”explains the creator of the academy.
Every year matters
The creator of the Finnish educational startup claims that early development becomes the foundation of all life and has the greatest impact on future life and career. Therefore, in order to educate a genius, it is necessary to try from the very beginning to help him understand that he should not have doubts, limits or limits.
The skills that children should receive in the modern world are significantly different from those that were relevant 10–20 years ago. The digital era requires a new approach. So if a child, for example, is reading books with the least enthusiasm than his parents would like, do not push too hard.
“It is important to maintain a healthy balance in the process of raising a child. If you want him to start reading, you need to contribute to this only in a positive way. When working with children, it is necessary to remember that only caring, understanding and constructive communication can bring lasting visible results, ”Peter Westerbaka is convinced.
The Fun Academy Future Astronauts educational program for babies lasts 12 weeks. It is available to everyone - the creators offer to download the curriculum for free and are already actively preparing teachers for its implementation in different countries. The entrepreneur and his team argue that the modern world is facing a global educational crisis: the differences in educational levels are enormous, especially outside of Europe and America.
Therefore, the academy recently partnered with the Tunisian government and conducted trainings in the Vietnamese city of Danang to help the least prosperous countries develop and improve a pre-school education system. Now the academy works in several American states, as well as in China, Singapore, Brazil, Spain.
