Legendary author Margaret Atwood coming Brisbane
Margaret Atwood, the legendary Booker-prize winning author, will be touring Australia and speaking in multiple Australian cities. The purpose of this voyage is to promote her new booker-prize winning book The Testaments, which is a sequel to her 1985 fiction, The Handmaid's Tale.
Avid readers of her books and aspiring authors will get an incredible chance to engage with her and ask her questions. She said in an interview that she is delighted to return to Australia, to a place where she has spent much time of her life and where people loved her work and welcomed her with warmth.
Atwood's tour will start from February 16th, 2020 from Sydney and shall proceed to various Australian cities like Brisbane, Cantabwerry, Perth, Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Hobart

Peter Collins, who is the former NSW Liberal leader, is pressuring the state and federal governments to reconsider their plans to establish a cruise terminal on Sydney's Garden Island. According to him, berthing cruise liners at the naval facility may become a threat to national security. He joined over 1000 locals, politicians, Indigenous leaders, Farmers, Fishers, and more in a rally on Sunday to oppose the plan. He said in his statement during the rally that if the government wants to set up a cruise terminal at this location, it should close Newcastle Airport. He said this close-by airport is used by both airlines and F-35 strike fighter aircraft, and setting up such terminal around this location is not only bad for the environment and local economy, but it will become a threat to the airport too.
