Courtney Barnett makes the gravy with Pa Brisbane
Paul Kelly’s 1987 hit single, To Her Door, was the song that was given to Courtney Barnett’s English class when she was still in her high school on Sydney’s northern beaches. The class was assigned the song with the task of breaking down and analyzing the lyrics.
Courtney Barnett, the growing singer-songwriter and Triple J listener was already busy writing her first song as well as verses of poetry, but she had never carefully studied another songwriter.
Kelly had finally found an example of craft and a feeling of place she could quickly identify within her tale of a collapsed marriage and a desperate dash to reconciliation. To Kelly, To Her Door didn’t just click, it proposed paths that could be followed by her.
To Courtney Barnett, it was a mind-altering exercise. She recalls, “It was wonderful to be able to correlate with the Silver Top taxi line and those little Australianisms that made sense and hit home.”
Barnett’s songs also have a distinctive eye for detail like those of Kelly’s. But until now, these two Melbourne musicians and acquaintances have never before shared a stage, but that is soon going to change this month. Barnett and her band, coming for her second album, Tell Me How You Really Feel, where they will play main support for Kelly on his third Making Gravy national tour.

Tanya Tucker can be said to be the only country music singer who represents fortitude and tenacity. A lot of other country artists have retired, but this talented woman is still making some of the best music of her long-time career.
She received four Grammy nominations in late November, including Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance for “Bring My Flowers Now,” Song of the Year, and Best Country Album, While I’m Livin’.
While I’m Livin’ is Tucker’s first new album in 17 years, which is produced by Brandi Carlile and Shooter Jennings and was released in August. The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards is scheduled to take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Jan. 26, 2020.
Truck says, she could not have done this without her fans, Brandi and Shooter, and the whole Tanya Tucker Team. I’d never, ever fathom, what just happened, as the fans on social media and streaming made this record an instant success.
Tucker has been nominated for 10 Grammys over her five-decade career since she landed her first nomination with “Delta Dawn” in 1972 for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Female.
Travis Head was the invisible man of Adelaide Oval. But Travis still hopes that he will be in the midst of the action during the three-Test series against New Zealand.
Head's achievement against Pakistan in the day-night Test in Adelaide was so run-of-the-mill that it became remarkable.
This 25-year-old didn't play with the bat or ball and didn't even take a catch in the field. He was just the 14th player to play in a winning Test without having a single stat to his name.
He is happy that his team came back as a winner but was left unsatisfied since he was not able to contribute to it.
He scored just 24 runs in his only inning in the first test against Pakistan.
Head now has put his eye-sight on making a significant impression in the day-night Test against NZ.
"Not getting a hit was a bit disappointing. I was ready to go out, and the wicket looked outstanding. It was disheartening not to be able to go out in the presence of the home crowd and have a hit."
The Black Caps have not achieved any victory in a Test series in Australia since a 2-1 win in 1985.
